Barefoot Contessa first opened it’s doors on Main St in the Spring of 1999 – selling primarily collectible vintage goods and lovely handmade items.
Owner and Vancouver Actor, Eva de Viveiros, quickly expanded the offerings with unique hand screened tops, dyed slips and pretty floral dresses and skirts, that she would sew herself. As the demand grew, so did the selection, branching into prestige brands with a feminine sensibility. Betsey Johnson, Nougat and Sweet Chemise shared space with 50′s prom dresses and locally designed lines.

Barefoot Contessa needed to grow to contain all this flirty goodness, so in 2005 came an expansion that saw it double in size by joining into its neighbour, becoming the flagship location we have today. More expansion in 2008 saw a second store blossom on Commercial Drive and now, a little sister, named “Precious & Few” has sprouted on Kingsway. Precious & Few comes full circle with its offerings of vintage collectibles, gifts and special occasion wear for children.

Barefoot Contessa has become known for its charming and eclectic style. From accessories to fragrance, dresses to jewels, stationary to Housewares, there is always something special to discover, love and take home.
